Reaffirming Tamil Nadu's historic resistance against linguistic imposition and central overreach, Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition and DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin declared that the state will never permit Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Responding to renewed efforts to establish the central residential school network, Udhayanidhi warned that if the Union government attempts to bypass the state's educational autonomy, the opposition will press to convene a special session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to adopt an uncompromising resolution protecting state rights. Tamil Nadu's opposition to Navodaya schools is anchored in the landmark Two-Language Policy enacted by DMK founder and former Chief Minister Perarignar Anna in 1968. While the Union government's Three-Language Formula serves as a vehicle for compulsory Hindi imposition, Tamil Nadu's policy prioritizing Tamil and English has systematically democratized higher education, social mobility, and global career opportunities for generations of rural and underprivileged students. Instead of adopting centralized schooling frameworks that dilute federalism, Udhayanidhi emphasized that Tamil Nadu must safeguard its public education ecosystem and social justice legacy against cultural homogenization. The Opposition Leader reiterated that defending linguistic self-respect and provincial education rights remains a foundational duty to ensure that the aspirations of Tamil youth are never compromised.
