The Imperative for a National Caste Census: Safeguarding Affirmative Action and Social Justice

Reiterating the DMK's longstanding demand for a comprehensive nationwide Caste Census, Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasized that updated socio-economic caste enumeration is essential for accurate policy targeting and proportional representation. Without empirical data reflecting the contemporary demographics of OBC, SC, and ST communities, affirmative action quotas risk legal challenges and dilution. Udhayanidhi urged the Union Government to incorporate caste enumeration into the upcoming Census without further delay.
